Golf in Belek Turkey

Turkey ranks second in Europe and fourth in the Mediterranean bowl with its 24 golf courses. After Turkey’s only destination golf in Belek, Bodrum stands out as the second golf destination.

Bodrum, which is a candidate to become the second golf destination after Belek, has two courses, Bodrum Golf Club and Vita Park Golf Club. While the Vita Park Golf Club, which was transferred to Doğuş Group, is planning to build the second course, there are two more golf course projects in the region. In addition, Göçay Group, in partnership with Onur Turizm, will build an 18-hole golf course on a 1300-decare area in Sarıgerme.

The tourism sector continues to grow by incorporating different sports branches in addition to areas such as congress, wellness and thermal. Despite the limited number of courses, golf tourism, which has an old history in the world but has been made in Turkey since the 90s, puts a smile on the face of tourism professionals. Golf in Belek, which has a total of 24 courses in accordance with international standards, surpasses its rivals Spain and Portugal in terms of occupancy rate. Compared to other types of tourism, the supply in golf tourism is lower than the demand.

New golf destinations need to be created in order to get a bigger share from golf tourism. Apart from Belek, there are two fields each in Bodrum and Istanbul, and one field in Kuşadası in Turkey. Choosing certain places for the construction of new golf courses, the ministry envisaged the construction of one or two golf courses in different regions of Turkey instead of creating a destination. Within the scope of this strategy, it is planned to build golf courses in Istanbul, Dalaman, Bodrum, Northern Antalya, Manavgat- Oymapınar, Alanya and Tarsus to create golf destinations. However, the ministry does not have a golf course that is still in the investment stage.
