The Best Guide to the Pro Golf Tour in Turkey: Elite Tournaments Hosted by Golf Mad Travel
When winter blankets northern Europe in snow and forces golf courses to close, the international golfing community turns its eyes to one specific destination: Belek, Antalya. Known as the crown jewel of Turkish golf, Belek boasts a unique climate that allows for pristine, year-round play.
At the heart of this thriving competitive scene is Golf Mad Travel and Events. As a premier golf tour operator and official tournament promoter, Golf Mad has established Turkey as a critical stop on the European professional development circuits—most notably, the prestigious Pro Golf Tour.
Whether you are a professional tracking your path to the Challenge Tour, an amateur looking to play alongside the pros, or a passionate spectator planning a luxury golf holiday, here is everything you need to know about the Pro Golf Tour tournaments in Turkey.
What is the Pro Golf Tour?
The Pro Golf Tour (formerly the EPD Tour) is a recognized satellite tour under the European Tour Group. It serves as a vital stepping stone for talented young professionals aiming for the Challenge Tour and, ultimately, the DP World Tour.
Golf legends like Martin Kaymer began their rise to fame here. Winning or placing highly in these events awards crucial Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, making the Turkish leg of the tour incredibly competitive and exciting to watch.
Why Belek is the Perfect Stage for Pro Tournaments
Golf Mad Travel strategically hosts these tournaments during the winter and early spring months. Turkey’s “Turquoise Coast” provides the perfect ecosystem for high-stakes professional golf:
- Flawless Winter Climate: Mild temperatures averaging 15–20°C (60–68°F) between January and March create optimal playing conditions.
- Championship Course Designs: Courses designed by legends like Peter Thomson and David Feherty offer complex layouts, fast greens, and tactical hazards that test the limits of professional golfers.
- All-Inclusive Luxury: The tournaments are backed by Turkey’s world-famous 5-star all-inclusive resorts, offering players and guests unparalleled hospitality right next to the fairways.
Key Tournament Venues Promoted by Golf Mad
Golf Mad Travel partners with the finest clubs in Belek to host official Pro Golf Tour events. Two venues regularly steal the spotlight:
1. National Golf Club
As the first golf club in Belek, the National Golf Club is deeply rooted in tradition. Carved through a forest of eucalyptus and pine trees with the snow-capped Taurus Mountains as a backdrop, its tight fairways and strategic water hazards demand absolute precision from the touring pros.
2. Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort
Famous for hosting the Turkish Airlines Open on the DP World Tour, Regnum Carya is a masterpiece. It features a spectacular heathland-style course. Regnum Carya is also renowned for its floodlight system, allowing Golf Mad to organize unique night-golf experiences and late-afternoon tournament finishes.
The Golf Mad Pro-Am Experience: Play with the Pros
One of the most unique aspects of the events promoted by Golf Mad Travel and Events is the integration of high-profile Pro-Am tournaments.
Led by PGA Professionals, Golf Mad gives passionate amateur golfers the rare opportunity to team up with active Pro Golf Tour players. You can walk the same fairways, navigate the same pressure, and learn directly from athletes who are on the cusp of golf’s biggest stages.
These packages typically include:
- Guaranteed tournament entry slots.
- 5-star luxury accommodation at host resorts.
- VIP access to opening ceremonies, gala dinners, and award ceremonies.
- Custom fitting opportunities and exclusive tournament merchandise.
